| How it is done
The chemical peel is accomplished by applying
a specially formulated chemical solution to the
areas to be treated. The chemical causes the top
layer of the skin to separate from the deep layers
— somewhat like a blister. The patient is
then instructed on how to care for the peel. When
it heals, the new skin is often much smoother
and less wrinkled than the old skin.
