Lips are an important feature for conveying your
feelings. Some patients have naturally thin lips;
also, as people age, the lip line begins to descend,
causing thinning of the red lip and a loss of
the upper crest known as “cupid’s
bow”.
Several techniques are available for maintaining
a pleasing lip contour. Some surgeons augment
the lip line with injections of purified collagen
or with fat taken from another part of the body.
These techniques are easy and effective, but the
results are only temporary and require regular
touch-ups.
More permanent solutions in the past have included
implants of materials such as Gortex and fat but
these often have resulted in unnatural “feel”
and texture impermanent in results. We currently
use Artecoll, an injectable which gives natural,
permanent enhancement with virtually no side effects,
and no need for surgical intervention.
